BA, EdM (expected 2027)
Mental Health Intern
I approach mental health with openness, warmth, and empathy. The therapeutic space is judgment-free and provides an environment where each person can share and explore their concerns. I engage social interactions with an open-minded approach and attention to individual identities and stories.
Our lives are always full of changes that can unexpectedly become disruptive or overwhelming. Being an immigrant, I recognize how challenges of creating lives in new places can cause complications and aspire to assist those who struggle with adapting to new cultures in highly multicultural environments. It is crucial to foster nurturing and collaborative relationships in the space between us where I can help with pursuing meaningful changes and valuable goals. Belongingness, competence, and autonomy are important values for creating satisfying lives, and I emphasize individual strengths and self-worth to foster healing and well-being. I highly value cultural diversity and experiences, and I dedicate myself to practicing mental health care with cultural competence and humility.
I am a second-year master's student in the Mental Health Counseling program at Teachers College, having returned to school to complete my BA in psychology at Columbia University. Since leaving Denmark, where I was born and grew up, I have worked in New York City as a photographer and traveled extensively all over the world for work for several decades.
